Funeral services will be Monday, June 9 at the Lake Preston Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wanda McNeill officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Lake Preston Cemetery at Lake Preston. The Johnson-Henry Funeral Chapel of Lake Preston is in charge of arrangements. He was born August 26, 1921 in Baker Township near Lake Thompson to Melvin and Evelyn (Morgan) Larson. He attended Lake Preston High School graduating in 1939. During WWII he served as a pharmacist mate in the United States Navy. Following the military he farmed and later worked for the Cenex Farm Supply in Lake Preston for 19 years. He married Delores Stephenson in 1943. She passed away in 1989. He married Ardath Nesheim in May of 1992, she passed away in 2002. He had a passion for horses and Western life. After retirement he learned woodworking, especially passing along creations to his children and grandchildren. He was known for his humor and practical jokes. He was involved with the American Legion, school board, ambulance driving, church council, and volunteer fire department. He also enjoyed supporting the activities of his grandchildren, including: soccer, baseball, swimming, Boy Scouts, Brownie Scouts, wrestling, basketball and 4-H. Survivors include his children, Sandy (Jim) Peeke of Overland Park, Kan., Susan (Gene) Vostad of Big Stone City, and Sally (Jay) Maze of White Rock, N.M.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill (Rita) Larson; stepchildren, Bob Nesheim, and Randy (Sue) Nesheim; and three step-granchildren.
