Highland Recorder August 5, 1904 Headwaters, August 3 — Robert McCray departed this life Sunday, July 31, 1904 at his home here in the 77th year of his life. Early in life he was united with Miss Mary Hodge and to this union there were born 9 children, four of whom have preceded him to the tomb. Highland Recorder August 12, 1904 Robt. McCray departed this life Sunday morning, July 31st 1904, at his home at Headwaters in the 77th year of his age. Early in life he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Hodge, and to this union there were born nine children, four of which preceded him to the tomb. Several years ago he united with the United Brethren church and continued in the same until death. Some years ago, when his son William was killed by lighting , he to received a severe shock from which he never fully recovered. Only one of the children, Mr. George McCray was with him when death came. Reece was in Pennsylvania when notified of his father's illness, he at once started for his bedside, but sad to say did no reach home until after the burial had taken place Monday eve. Mr. McCray will be greatly missed not only by the immediate family but by the community as well. He was ever ready to lend helping hand to any one in distress he was a competent nurse and willing to do all in his power to alleviate His suffering of all who desired help. The funeral was conducted Rev. A. Q. Flaherty. September 30, 1904 In the Clerk's office of the Circuit court of Highland county, Sept. 14, 1904, George McCray vs. Robert McCray's Administrators, and others. The object of this suit is to settle up the estate of Robert McCray dec'd and make partition of land in which Robert McCray held a life interest, the remainder now vesting in his children, and it appearing from affidavit filed that Sallie Drummond and Ann Lamb are not residents of the state of Virginia, it is ordered that they appear here within fifteen days after due publication hereof and do what is necessary to protect their interests.
