From the Pittsburg Daily Headlight, Wednesday Evening, January 7, 1903: "Many years as Judge "Judge Robert Perkins, one of the most prominent citizens of Minden, died last week. Judge Perkins had lived in Minden for 21 years and all of that time he had served in the official capacity of judge, being Justice of the Peace for 19 years and a judge of the county court for 2 years. From The Liberal Enterprise, Liberal, Missouri, Friday, January 9, 1903: "In Memoriam "Whereas, The soldiers' last tattoo has beat for our dear friend and comrade, Robert Perkins, late Co. B, 40th Ill. Inf. Therefore be it resolved, that in the death of comrade Robert Perkins Liberal Post has lost one of its most honored members, whose gentle advice and manly council was always venerated, and those virtues all should emulate and whose faults, if any, should moulder with him to their kindred dust. The community has lost a wise counselor, a faithful friend, and one whom it delighted to honor and who sincerely mourn his departure into the shades of eternity. To his bereaved family, we extend our heartfelt sympathy, therefore be it Resolved, that a page in the minute book of this post be dedicated to his memory, and that a copy of these resolutions be furnished his family, and a copy of each of our local papers with a request to publish the same.
