Sears Jr. Born April 28, 1935, in Dennis, Bob was a descendent of the Shiverick Shipyard family, and the son of Arthur and Gladys (Sylver) Sears; he lived his entire life in the town. Van, he is survived by five grandchildren, Justin, Jillian, Mercedes, Ariana and Robert Arthur Sears II; three great-grandchildren, Ana, Allie and Asa. He was also "Grampie" to Katie, Heather and Tyler. He is also survived by his sisters, Jean Tripp and June Kelley, brother-in-law Bill Kelley and brother William Sears; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as his uncle, Richard "Dick" Sylver and aunt Dorothy Franklin. Bob graduated from Yarmouth High School in 1953. He worked with his father at Arthur Sears & Sons and continued the business after his father retired, running the business for over 50 years. In his retirement he enjoyed helping others and working on his classic cars at his shop that was affectionately known as "The No Charge Garage." He had been an owner of the Northside Marina and instrumental in its expansion. Bob was a Dennis police officer for many summers and a call firefighter for the Dennis Fire Department. Bob spent many happy years boating every summer out of Sesuit Harbor spending every Sunday with the whole family: children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He particularly enjoyed the dock parties and Fourth of July celebration. He was the longest continuous slip holder at Sesuit. He loved winters in Florida and the races at Daytona as an avid NASCAR fan, which he attended every year since 1969. He had an ownership in many stock cars, particularly the #66 which raced at Daytona and other NASCAR tracks. Friends and relatives are invited to call with their classic cars from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth. The procession will form at 1 p.m. for the graveside service at 2 p.m. at the Dennis Village Cemetery, Dennis. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hope Health/McCarthy Center for their compassionate care of Bob during his recent illness. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's name may be made to the Dennis Fire Department, 883 Main St., West Dennis, MA 02670; the Dennis Police Department, 90 Bob Crowell Road, South Dennis, MA 02660; or to the charity of one's choice.
