Read More	DENNIS — Roxanne (Gifford) Sears, of Dennis, passed away at her home on April 30 at the age of 77 years surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Robert A. Sears and mother of Brenda Sears and Pamela Sears, both of Dennis and the late Robert "Bobby" A. Sears Jr. Born May 14, 1934, in Cotuit, Roxie was an 11th-generation Cape Codder, the daughter of the late Avis (Teachman) and Milton Gifford and sister of the late Milton F. Gifford of Evansville, Indiana. She graduated from Quincy High School and the Cape Cod Hospital School of Nursing in Hyannis. She worked as a private duty nurse and later as Assistant Postmaster and Acting Postmaster in the Dennis Post Office until her retirement. Mrs. Sears was active in both the community and the Dennis Union Church, particularly the Women's Fellowship's "Homeless not Helpless" project that hosts a monthly dinner and overnight for homeless women and, until her illness made it impossible, she knit chemotherapy caps and prayer shawls for women going through cancer treatments. She was a member of the Eastern Star/Rainbow Girls, Dennis Junior Women's Club, Young Mother's Club, and served on the Dennis Christmas Tree Committee. Bob and Roxanne spent many happy years boating every summer out of Sesuit Harbor spending every Sunday with the whole family; children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as enjoying time in Rangeley, ME. She particularly enjoyed the dock parties and Fourth of July celebration. They loved their winters in Florida with friends at the pool, the beach or the races at Daytona as avid NASCAR fans. Roxanne was also an accomplished cook and gardener but the most important thing in her life was her family. She was "Mom" to many and a friend to all. In addition to her husband and daughters, survivors include five grandchildren, Justin, Jillian, Mercedes, Ariana and Robert, three great-grandchildren, Ana, Allie, and Asa. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Jean Trip and June Kelley and brother-in-law William Sears and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to call from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, May 6, at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., S. Yarmouth. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 7, in the Dennis Union Church, Rt. 6A, Dennis and burial will follow in Dennis Village Cemetery, Dennis. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Roxanne's name may be made to Casting for Recovery Massachusetts, P.O. Box 280, E.
