Read More	From an 1891 Nance County newspaper clipping file, publication date unknown, transcribed by Linda Berney: Died - At Fullerton, Monday April 6, 1891, at 12 o'clock noon, of general debility, Robert Turner aged 61 years. The deceased was born at Ashton, Under Tyne Lancashire, England in 1830 and came to this country in 1857, settled at Salem, Ohio, where he was employed by the Salem Gas company. After five years his ability and faithful service were rewarded by receiving the appointment as superintendent of the works, in which position he remained for 25 years, and until failing health reminded him that he should give up the care and responsibilities which the position required. Not wishing to lose his valuable services the company urged him to retain his place, until finding that he had delayed all too long, and his health had become permanently undermined, he peremptorially resigned and with his family consisting of his wife and daughter Jennie, came to Nebraska in hopes that by rest and change of climate he might restore his health in a measure at least, and spend his remaining years with his children, three of whom, Mrs. Lizzie Dean; Miss Sadie Turner, and a son S. B. Turner had preceded him, locating in the county several years ago. The change seemed for a few weeks to benefit him, but it soon became apparent that he had remained all too long at his post and that he was gradually failing, but still it was hoped that when spring came he might rally and enjoy a comfortable old age, but it was not so to be, but the reverse and as spring advanced, he sank rapidly and as the buds and grass began to shoot into beauty, his worn and weary body sank to earth and the relieved spirit took up a new life on the other shore where "eternal spring abides." Mr. Turner was an earnest christian man and while in England was a member of the established church, but on locating in Ohio there being no Episcopal church, he joined the Presbyterian denomination and was a worthy member until his death. After coming to Fullerton he sent for and received the church letters of himself and family, but owing to his poor health he had not placed them with the church here. During the last few weeks of life he was anxious and ready to depart, and death to him was but a happy change from pain and weariness, to joy and rest. The funeral services were held at the house on Wednesday at 11 o'clock, Rev. N. A. Martin officiating. Loving hands had wreathed beautiful flowers to drop upon the bier. The pupils in Miss Sadie Turner's room in the high school gathered flowers and fashioned a large wreath, and the Y's as their offering brought a mammoth "Y" of green leaves and white flowers. After the services the faithful wife upon whom he relied so much while living, and loving children, with sympathizing friends, laid him tenderly away in the Fullerton cemetery in hopes of a joyful reunion in the bright hereafter.
