Lee J. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery. Robert Warren Grey was born October 15, 1917 to Tabitha Ellen (Robinson) and Charles Elwyn Grey on a farm north of Burdette. The family moved to a farm in Holden Township when he was one year of age. He attended school in Sunbeam and high school in St. Lawrence where he graduated in 1937. After graduation, he became involved in the family farm. He married his childhood sweetheart, Beulah May Story, on June 2, 1940 in Sunbeam Congregational Church. They lived on a small farm a few miles from the family farm. In 1942, they moved to the family farm where they lived until 1990. They were blessed with four children, Ramona Jean now Mrs. Frank Fischer, of Fort Morgan, Colo., Larry Richard of Platteville, Colo., Gary Michael of Pierre and Kelvin Lee who resides on the family farmstead. He served many years on the township and county school boards. He was also township clerk. He joined the Sunbeam Congregational Church June 13, 1943 and held the office of deacon for many years. Upon the discontinuance of the Sunbeam Church, they joined the St. Lawrence Community Church in 1978. He also served as deacon in the St. Lawrence Church and enjoyed singing in the men’s choir. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. They took the children on vacations and after retiring they enjoyed family trips and group tours. He loved working with livestock and the land. He took pride in working in their yard in town. He leaves to mourn his passing his children, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fischer, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Grey, Gary Grey, Mr. and Mrs. Kelvin Grey; nine grandchildren, Carl Fischer Hewitt, Gregory Fischer, Joshua, Russell and David Grey, Ellery and Nicholas Grey, Kristina and Kathy Grey; one great-grandchild, Ashley Lauren Hewitt; one sister, Evelyn Dybing of Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-five years and three brothers, Ralph, Lee and Lyle.
