Thimmes, 700 Oakwood Ave., was recently appointed local representative of Eagle's National Life Insurance Co., which offers life, hospital and income protection insurance. Thimmes, a Lancaster native and graduate of St. Mary High School, has had nine years' life insurance experience, and is a graduate of Life Underwriters Training. He and his wife, Edna, have five children: Emily, Judith, Joy, Nancy and Robert II. Mr. Thimmes' mother is Mrs. John Bash of this city. During World War II, Thimmes served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. He is a member of the Eagles, Kiwanis and UCT. Eagle National recently increased its hospital and surgical insurance benefits, giving policy holders a maximum of $500 for miscellaneous hospital charges, and without any increase in premiums. _________________________________________________ OBITUARY Lancaster Eagle-Gazette, Lancaster, Fairfield County, Ohio, 14 August 2013 FT. LAUDERDALE, FL: Robert W. Thimmes passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he had resided since 2007. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio August 14, 1918 and previously lived in Leesburg, Florida. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna E. Thimmes (deceased 1998), his sisters, Genevieve Brasseur and Mae Black and his grandson, Ronald Allen Lane. He is survived by his daughters, Emily (Richard) Lane, Judith (Richard) Shields, Joy (Ken) Brooks and Nancy (Jeff) Hall; and his son, Robert W. (Karyn) Thimmes II. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was loved and will be sorely missed by his entire family and all that knew him. During his long and active life he enjoyed golf, billiards, bowling and most of all music and dancing. He will be remembered as "Bingo Bob" to many who enjoyed his fun loving Bingo games at Brittany Estates. He and his wife were wonderful dancers and later he enjoyed being the DJ at Homewood Estates where he would sit in the lobby and play his extensive music collection for all to enjoy. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Ohio.
