Mitchell of Wayne, died Monday morning about 11 in a Los Angeles hospital. She had had heart trouble since an illness with pneumonia last winter. Miss Roberta Cash, 26, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Cash of Niobrara and niece of Mrs. C.O. Mitchell of Wayne, died Monday morning about 11 in a Los Angeles hospital. Paddock of Wayne, will officiate. Miss Cash was a graduate of Niobrara high school. She attended Wayne college a year and a half, staying at Mitchell's. She then went to Omaha for nurse's training which she completed four years ago. Miss Cash was employed in the state hospital at Norfolk and had been following her profession in Los Angeles for some months. She had planned to come home in the fall for a stay. Miss Cash was born at Niobrara January 1, 1916. She leaves her parents and one sister, Mrs. William Rose, of Niobrara. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell went to Niobrara Monday and returned Tuesday. They will go again for the rites." OBITUARY: "Roberta D. Cash was born in Niobrara, Nebraska January 1, 1916 and died June 29, 1942 at the age of 26 years, 5 months and 29 days. Her girlhood was spent in Niobrara where she graduated from high school. After completing one year at Wayne State Teachers college she took the position of office nurse for Dr. Green working there until she entered the Methodist Hospital in Omaha where she completed a three-year course in nursing. After her graduation at the head of her class in 1938, she worked as a Registered nurse for a few months in the Omaha hospital. She then accepted a position in the Norfolk State Hospital and some time later went to California where she worked in Tehachapi Valley hospital. Wishing to further her career in a large hospital she entered the Methodist Hospital in Los Angeles, CA where she worked until the time of her death. She was greatly loved by her patients and was called "the nurse with the permanent smile". Though being in ill health the past two years she kept on with her work until she was suddenly taken critically ill last Monday morning at 4:49 and passed away at 11:00 the same morning. She had recently expressed the hope that she might be able to enter her country's service. Thus throughout her nursing experience, Roberta had exemplified the teaching of Florence Nightengale, "With Loyalty will endeavor to aid the physician in his work and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care." She leaves to mourn, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cash, and one sister, Mrs. William Rose, also one foster sister, Mildred Cash, all of Niobrara; and many relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., at the Presbyterian church in Niobrara with Rev. Paddock in charge. Interment was made in L'Eau Qui Court Cemetery."
