"Baba" Bennett April 26, 1921 - October 2, 2007. Roberta R. "Baba" Bennett was born April 26, 1921 in Pueblo, Colorado to Robert Ray Jennings and Barbara Beach (Ledwith) Jennings. She was married to Robert Bennett until 1959 when she moved to Colorado with her three daughters: Sandra Murphy, Vicki Brown, and Roberta "Bobbi" Harris. It was in 1960 when Roberta built her house in Cascade, Colorado. Being one of the first, single women to receive a mortgage loan in Colorado Springs, her family is still amazed by her determination and grit. For over 20 years, Roberta enjoyed working as Santa's office manager in his "workshop" at the North Pole. On October 2, 2007, our Baba left this earth at the age of 86 with her loving family by her side: Her children, Vicky and Dave Brown and Bobbi and Tom Harris, her grandchildren, Shawna Rae and Nick Abbey and Tommy and Becky Harris, and her great grandchildren, William and Jackson Abbey. She was preceded in death by her baby brother, Bob Jennings, her older sister, Katie Lobaugh, and her love of many years, Jim Dudley. Baba will always remain her family's rock and be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor and strength of character. We love you, Baba - "Unforgettable, that's what you are." To cherish her memory, a memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 8th at Swan-Law Mortuary 501 N Cascade Avenue. Please join us in the celebration of our Baba's life. In lieu of flowers, Baba's family asks that contributions be sent to the Colorado Springs Police Department K-9 Unit to purchase bulletproof vests. Please send donations to the CSPD at 705 South Nevada Avenue, 80903, "Attention: Nancy McCauley" with notation: "In memory of Baba Bennett."
