Description	:	OAKLAND -- Roger Alan Burwood, 68, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at the Togus Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born in Oakland on Sept. 27, 1939, the son of Clayton and Hilda (Newell) Burwood. He attended Oakland schools, graduating from Williams High School. After high school graduation, he joined the Navy under the Buddy Program with John "Jake" Warren. Roger served as an electrician and as a petty officer on the USS Forrestal and was discharged in 1963. Roger had been employed by Rossignol Dairy and most recently by the Wyandotte Woolen Mill. Roger lived many years in Oakland, and for more than 20 years had resided in Waterville. He was a member of the Bourque-Lanigan Post American Legion. One of his favorite pastimes was listening to music. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Richard, Dana and Kenneth Burwood Sr. Surviving are a son Christopher Burwood of Oakland; a daughter, Meridith Bolster and her husband, Larry, of Bangor; three sisters, Grace Willette and her husband, Richard, of Waterville, Janice Derosier of Bangor, and Marian Jurdak and her husband, Richard, of Oakland; two grandchildren, Amanda Jo Burwood and Madison Bolster; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, at Lewis Cemetery, Cottle Road, Oakland. (Published in the Morning Sentinel on 8/26/2008)
