Read More	Dayton Review December 3, 1953 DAYTON YOUTH, 19, FATALLY INJURED AS TRACTOR UPSETS Services Held Here Monday Afternoon Funeral services were held in the Dayton Mission Covenant Church last Monday afternoon for Roger Wahman, 19 years old as a result of fatal injuries received when a tractor he was riding home from work turned over in the ditch along the Lehigh-Dayton road Friday evening of last week. Services were held in the home at 1:30 and at 2:00 o'clock in the Church. Rev. Rodney North pastor of the church officiated, with Swanson and Carson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial was made in Oakwood Cemetery at Stratford. During the service, songs, Beyond the Sunset and Children of the Heavenly Father, were sung by Miss Clarice Carlson, accompanied by Mrs. Carl Benson. Casket bearers were schoolmates of Roger, namely, Robert Weaver, Donald Howe, Jack Vegors, Raymond Green, Robert Stark and Robert Hoyer. The accident occurred about 5:30 p.m. when the young man was on his way home from the field where he had been plowing. No one knows exactly what happened to cause the accident, but is assumed that he probably drove too close to the shoulder of the road and loose gravel turned the wheels into the ditch in such a way as turn it completely upside down upon the boy. He was discovered by a passerby, who immediately spread the alarm and help was called. Within a few minutes 20 or thirty men had arrived. Also the Doctor and ambulance. He was rushed to the hospital, where he passed away in about 15 minutes, without regaining consciousness. Roger graduated from Dayton High School with the class of 1952 and has been helping on his father's farm, and working out for the neighbors. He was a brilliant young man, well liked by his friends. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Wahman, one sister, Audrey and one brother, Gerald. Also by his grandmother, Mrs. Luella Swenson of Scranton, Ia. OBITUARY And so, with the completion of the season's plowing, our friend and loved one was making his way homeward bound, in the twilight dusk of the day. He as busy about his task in his unassuming and helpful way when the happening for which man does not have the answer - and his labors in this life were completed. Roger Elmo Wahman had reached the 19th year, fifth month and 24th day of his life. His death came quickly and he was spared suffering in prolonged pain. Roger was born in Stratford, Ia., on June 3, 1934, where he spent his early years. After which he lived in the Dayton area until his departure. In 1947 he was confirmed in the Mission Covenant Church in Dayton. Upon graduation from the Dayton High School with the class of 1952, he farmed for his father and also helped others. We knew him in our Church, the School and in wholesome community activities in which he took his place with keen interest and congenial spirit.
