He worked several years for Williams Oil Co., laying pipeline in many states. He joined the Operating Engineers Union in 1964 at Parsons and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union, Local 234 at Des Moines, Iowa. He was a heavy equipment operator. In 1973, he moved to Lamont, where he was a hog farmer for 12 years. In 1987, he retired and moved to Emporia. Bayne, the son of Albert and Eva Faust Bayne, was born Oct. 13, 1916, at De Witt, Ark. He married Pearl Jardot in 1938, and later they divorced. He married Grace V. Brown on March 13, 1964, at Sedan. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Connie Thomsen of Lamont; two sons, Albert Bayne of Madison and Ron Bayne of Sioux City, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Josephine Williams of Emporia; two sisters, Hazel Irons and Virginia Flippin of Fremont, Calif.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Dale Pracht, chaplain at Newman Hospital, will conduct the service.
