Description	:	Dublin -- Ronald "Shorty" Hisle, 81, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2007, at the Brandywine Nursing Home in Greenfield where he has been a resident since March. Born in Richmond, Ky., on Dec. 6, 1925, "Shorty" had lived in Dublin from 1951-2000, at which time he moved to Greenfield. Read More	Dublin -- Ronald "Shorty" Hisle, 81, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2007, at the Brandywine Nursing Home in Greenfield where he has been a resident since March. Born in Richmond, Ky., on Dec. 6, 1925, "Shorty" had lived in Dublin from 1951-2000, at which time he moved to Greenfield. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a Radioman Second Class. He received the American Area Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with one star and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Shorty was a self-employed auto service mechanic and for 40 years he owned and operated the Standard Oil Service Station in Dublin. He was a member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge, the American Legion and attended the Cambridge City Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, the former Lillie Mae Day. They were married on Dec. 31, 1946, in College Corner, Ohio. One son, Darrel (Kathy) Hisle of Greenfield; two grandchildren, Hannah and Aaron Hisle, both of Indianapolis; five sisters, Lena Smith of Beloit, Ill., Alma Beasley of Connersville, Norma Robins of Franklin, Ruth Cordell of Martinsville, Helen Gross of Dublin, Ga.; one brother, Ernie Hisle of Terre Haute; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Josie McIntosh Hisle; one sister, Margaret Lay; and one brother, Donald Lee Hisle. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2007, at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin. Rev. Darrel Bertram of the Cambridge City Church of the Nazarene and Rev. Bill Bean of the Stringtown Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial with military honor guard provided by the American Legion Post 169 of Cambridge City will follow in the South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, at the funeral home.
