Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. ++++++++++++ Ron L. Venable, 74, of rural Slater, died Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Slater, with Rev. Paul List officiating. Burial will be in the Slater City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Born June 22, 1945 in Marshall, he was the son of the late Howard L. and Oleta Christian Venable. On September 3, 1966 in Webster Groves, Missouri, he married Karen Kauflin, and she survives of the home. Also surviving is a daughter, Christine K. Deihl and her husband David of Trimble, Missouri; two grandchildren, Delaney Deihl and Dawson Deihl; a brother, Jerry Venable of Slater; and a sister, Patricia Ann Robbins of Winchester, Kansas. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sara Beth Venable; and a brother, Howard Dean Venable. Mr. Venable was a member of the First Baptist Church in Slater. He was a 1963 graduate of Slater High School; and a 1967 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he received a BS in Agriculture, and was a member of the Farm House Fraternity. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the State Bank of Slater, later Exchange Bank of Missouri; and the Marshall-Saline Development Corporation Board. He farmed in rural Saline County all of his life, and enjoyed woodworking and the outdoors. He also enjoyed the fellowship of his Wednesday night cabin dinners. He was a man who truly loved his family.
