Rosalie was born August 13, 1928 in Pittsburg, KAN., to John B. and Rosa (Pichard) Lenne. She attended Pittsburg schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1946. On December 25, 1945, she married Charles L. Manley at Columbus, KAN. He preceded her in death February 22, 1995. Rosalie was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone in Pittsburg. Manley, 80, of Pittsburg, KS died at 2 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Cornerstone Village, Inc. of Pittsburg, KS. Rosalie was born August 13, 1928 in Pittsburg, KAN., to John B. and Rosa (Pichard) Lenne. She attended Pittsburg schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1946. On December 25, 1945, she married Charles L. Manley at Columbus, KAN. He preceded her in death February 22, 1995. Rosalie was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone in Pittsburg. In 1947, she transferred to Columbus, GA where her husband was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA., returning to Pittsburg upon his discharge from service. She later transferred to the Pacific Telephone Co. in the Los Angeles, CALIF., area for 1- 1/2 years, then transferred to Tulsa, OK. In 1964 she returned to Pittsburg. She worked as an operator, clerk, centralized ticket investigator, service assistant, group manager, and retiring as Manager of Operator Services in May 1979 with 33 years of service. From 1955 to 1961 she also served as Secretary-Treasurer for the Communications Workers Union Local 6405. In 1980, Rosalie was employed by KPL Gas Service Co. in Pittsburg as a cashier and customer service representative in the Engineering Department. She retired September 1, 1988 with 8 1/2 years of service. Rosalie was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club serving as President and Past President, AARP, and Western Resources Retirees Club. Rosalie is survived by her half-sister Frances M. Bogart of Nevada, MO; nieces and a nephew; Cousin Doris Redd who helped provide her care of Pittsburg, KAN. Graveside services will 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg with Rev. Daryl Gaddy officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to SEK Human Society. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS 66762. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg.
