Read More	The Malvern Leader Malvern, Iowa Thursday, May 14, 1936, Pg 5 Death Comes to Randolph Woman Mrs. Robert Bliss Long a Resident of Fremont County As the death of Mrs. Robert Bliss, which occurred Friday, May 8, Randolph was called upon to mourn another of the pioneer citizens of Fremont County. Rosaltha M. Wheeler, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wheeler, who came to the county before the Civil war, was born Nov. 30, 1867 at what now is known as Knox, west of Sidney. When she was a child her mother died and she was cared for in the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Biddlecome. Amid the simple life of these western hills of Iowa she received her schooling and grew to young womanhood. She was 18 when she and Robert Bliss were united in marriage, Aug 5, 1886, and had she lived until this coming August they would have completed 50 years of happy companionship. Practically all of her life has been spent in this part of the county. Six children were born to them, two sons and four daughters, all of whom are established in homes of their own. They are: Irva G. Bliss of Shenandoah and Mrs. Dick Welden, Mrs. Ocea Rumery, Mrs. Floyd Atkinson, Mrs. Fred Adams, and Everett Bliss, all of Randolph. Hers is the first death in this family group of eight. Mrs. Bliss was a most devoted mother not only to her immediate family but also to her 11 grandchildren and her four great grandchildren. Mrs. Bliss had but one brother. A. Dellsert Wheeler, of Blue Rapids, Kan., who attended the service. Her niece, Mrs. George Leeson, of the same community who often visited in the home was also present. Mrs. Bliss was a member of the Rebekah lodge and also the Royal Neighbors. Many years ago she united with the Methodist church at Randolph and was very active in the Ladies' Aid Society as long as her health permitted. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church Monday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. E. O. Douglass, the pastor, assisted by Rev. Peter Jacobs, a long time friend of the family, who gave the funeral message. Pall bearers were the sons and sons-in-law. Interment was in the Randolph cemetery. (Obit courtesy of FaG #47629402)
