Norton, for 40 years a resident of Marengo, died on Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Iowa Odd Fellows home at Mason City at the age of 64 years, 8 months and 23 days. Mrs. Norton was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon McArtor and was born in Ohio. Norton, for 40 years a resident of Marengo, died on Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Iowa Odd Fellows home at Mason City at the age of 64 years, 8 months and 23 days. Mrs. Norton was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon McArtor and was born in Ohio. She lost her mother in childhood and frequently stayed in the home of her uncle, Joseph McArtor, in Greene township, Iowa county. It was here that she became acquainted with Charles D. Norton, whom she married in the late eighties. Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Norton moved to Marengo to reside for about 40 years where Mr. Norton followed the trade of carpenter. Two very short intervals were spent in North Dakota. Mr. Norton died in Marengo in July of 1929. Since that ime Mrs. Norton has lived with her son in Chicago and at the Odd Fellows home in Mason City. Mrs. Norton is survived by a son, Charles M.J. Norton of Chicago, by three sisters, Mrs. Mary Norton of Des Moines, Mrs. Addie Cover of What Cheer and Mrs. Wm. Butts of Ohio, and by two brothers, Robert and William McArtor. For nearly 40 years Mrs. Norton was an active member of the M. E. church and the Rebekah lodge of Marengo. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. R. Zimmerman who has been a close friend of the Norton and McArtor families for over 60 years. Interment was in the Victor cemetery. - Marengo Pioneer Republican
