Description	:	Rose May Wehrman was born June 3, 1885. She was born on a farm near Angus. The place of her birth now belongs to Will Culbertson. Mrs. Basey lived all but two years of her life of 65 years, 4 months and 14 days near Angus. The place of her birth now belongs to Will Culbertson. Mrs. Basey lived all but two years of her life of 65 years, 4 months and 14 days near Angus. Her father, Chris Wehrman, passed away on her first birthday and her mother took the two small children and finished their claim on a homestead in Kansas. They returned to Angus after two years. Mrs. Basey grew up and got her schooling at Angus. She was married to Earl E. Basey December 23, 1908. They lived their married life near Angus until they moved to Edgar five years ago. Mrs. Basey was a woman of great ability. She loved to sew and had made her first dress at the age of twelve. In later years she did lots of custom sewing. Mrs. Basey also had musical talent. She took music lessions from Mrs. Bristow, and later took lessons from Miss Lydia Merrill. Still later she studied music in Nelson College. Mrs. Basey gave music lessons to as high as 40 pupils at one time. Two days a week she drove a horse and buggy to meet with the students that could not come to her home for lessons. Mrs. Basey spent her life in service for the Master. At the age of fourteen she was baptized into Christ in the Oxbow Church of Christ. She spent fifty years as pianist and organist for the Oxbow and Angus congregations. Her main interest and thought was for the church. She studied the Bible a good deal, reading the New Testament through many times. Mrs. Basey drew the blue prints for the east section of the church building at Angus. She was always ready to serve Christ by helping others. Mrs. Basey was a lover of home and children. However her home was never blessed with any children so Mr. and Mrs. Basey went to the Child Saving Institute in Omaha in 1930, and there received four children to nuture to adulthood. These four are now Mrs. Dorothy Murry, Mrs. Flora Mae Devitt, S-Sgt. Clark Holman and Fines Basey, all of which were able to be present for the funeral services. Left to mourn Mrs. Basey's death are her husband, Earl Basey; four children; four grandchildren, Donnie Gene Basey, Eddy Deal Holman, Cheryl Dee Murray (sic) and Fern Jeanette Murry; one brother, Neal Wehrman, and his wife; and a host of relatives and many dear friends. In all her sickness Mrs. Basey never complained but bore it all with patience. She passed from this life at her home in Edgar Monday morning, October 16, 1950.
