When she was five years old the family moved to Ogden, Iowa. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1946. She also graduated from the Betty Mae Harris School of Dance in Boone, Iowa. Rosemarie became an accomplished dancer in ballet, tap, and toe on toe tap often using a baton. She then attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. She received her two year teaching certificate. Later she graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a degree in elementary and special education. Rosemarie married William D. Kohl on August 7, 1954. They were blessed with seven children. The family lived in Walnut, Harlan and rural Logan. Rosemarie taught school in Anita, Denison, Walnut, Modale, Portsmouth Catholic, and Harlan schools, retiring in 1994 and moving to Woodbine. Rosemarie received her First Communion and was confirmed at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. She was currently a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a lifetime member of Iowa State Education Association, the National Education Association, Harrison County Retired School Personnel and the Red Hat Society. She also served on the church council. Rosemarie enjoyed being with her family and friends and playing cards. Rosemarie died on March 2, 2008, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and two days. Rosemarie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Kohl in 1988; son, William in 1986; sister, Maxine Barnes; and two brothers, Walter "Jack" and James Miner. She is survived by six children, Marthann (Dan) Fuhs of Defiance, Iowa, David (Tami) Kohl of Minden, Iowa, Donald Kohl and Michael Kohl both of Woodbine, Iowa, Karen (Steve) Sutley of Yorktown, Virginia, Alisa (Edward) Hodges of Pipe Creek, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Shelly (Eric) Schmidt of Harlan, Iowa, Shannon Sorey of Harlan, Iowa, Sheila (Ron) Rogers of Omaha, Nebraska, Josh (Rhonda) Kohl of Minden, Iowa, Justin Kohl of Minden, Iowa, Jason (Carrie) Kohl of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Jennifer Kohl (friend Gary Murphy) of Omaha, Nebraska, Jonathan Kohl of Woodbine, Iowa, Anna Kohl of Woodbine, Iowa, William "Bill" Sutley of Yorktown, Virginia, Robert "Bob" Sutley of Yorktown, Virginia and Benjamin Hodges of Pipe Creek, Texas; five step~grandchildren; Danielle Fuhs of Earling, Iowa, Mark Fox of Mesquite, Texas, Jennifer Schumann of Milton, Florida, Robert Punday of Kissimmee, Florida and Matthew Punday of Kissimmee, Florida; seven great grandchildren, Cody, Amanda and Chloe Schmidt of Harlan, Iowa, Faith Sorey of Harlan, Iowa, Ronnie Rogers of Jefferson City, Tennessee, Audrie Kohl of Missouri Valley, Iowa and Jackson Murphy of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Linda (Roy) Crane of Royal, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Woodbine, IA with Rev. Paul Strittmatter, SJ celebrant. Musicians were Mary Kay Eby and Jean Griesel. Selections were "How Great Thou Art" "Ave Maria". Congregational Hymns were "Be Not Afraid" and "On Eagle's Wings", Honorary pall bearers were Shelly Schmidt, Eric Schmidt, Cody Schmidt, Amanda Schmidt, Chloe Schmidt, Shannon Sorey, Faith Sorey, Sheila Rogers, Ron Rogers, Ronnie Rogers, Danielle Fuhs, Rhonda Kohl, Carrie Kohl, Audrie Kohl, Jennifer Kohl, Jackson Murphy, Anna Kohl, Mark Fox, Jennifer Schumann, Robert Punday, and Matthew Punday. Servers were Amanda Schmidt, Faith Sorey; readers were Shelly Schmidt, Danielle Fuhs; and EMEs were Rhonda Kohl, Eric Schmidt, Shelly Schmidt. Offertory presenters were Shannon Sorey, Sheila Rogers, and Jennifer Kohl. Pall bearers were Josh Kohl, Justin Kohl, Jason Kohl, Jonathan Kohl, Bill Sutley, Bob Sutley, and Benjamin Hodges.
