Kohl, 60 WOODBINE ~ William Donald Kohl, son of Atman Van and Anna Margretta Andersen Kohl, was born in Shelby County on Oct. 13, 1928. He attended school at Tennant, where he graduated in 1946. He was involved in basketball and baseball during his school years. After graduating, he worked at a lumber yard and farmed for about three years, then he operated a gas station for a couple of years, he worked in a gold mine in Colorado for a few months, then he worked at the light plant in Harlan for a year. He dressed chickens for 15 years, worked on road construction for 3 years, was a Harper Brush salesman for 9 years and worked for Triple C Roofing in Woodbine for 5 years. On Aug. 7, 1954, he married Rosemarie Martha Miner in Ogden. Seven children were born to this marriage. His wife, Rosemarie is a teacher in Special Ed in the Harlan Schools. He died Oct. 23, 1988 at his home in Harrison County, at age 60 years, 10 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his youngest son, Billy. He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie; six children, Marthann Kohl of Defiance; David of Minden; Donald of San Diego, Ca; Michael of Woodbine; Karen (Mrs Steve) Sutley of Las Vegas, NV; Alisa of Winter Park, FL; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Warren of Defiance and three sisters, Pearl Kenney of Overland Park, KS; Louisa (Mrs. Raymond) Andersen of Harlan and Betty (Mrs. Marty) Christensen of Harlan; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were Oct. 26, 1988 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Woodbine with Msgr. Michael Schwarte, officiating. Burial was in the Woodbine cemetery with Gene Schoemann, John Schoemann, Calvin Johnson, Ed Thompson, Alvin Kohl and Wayne Caddell serving as casket bearers.
