Rosa Christina Halboth, daughter of Adam and Barbara Halboth was born September 11, 1873 in Lee county, Illinois and died June 4 1955 at the Ida Grove hospital. She came to Iowa when eleven years old, attended the Odebolt school and later taught school in this vicinity. She was united in marriage to Louis Conroth Volz, April 21, 1894. She has been a resident of Arthur community since her marriage and since the death of her husband she has made her home with her daughter-in-law Mrs. Helen Volz. She was past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and a member of White Shrine. She has nursed most of her married life and most homes in this area have had her help at one time or another. Every one knew her as Grandma Volz. She was an active member and worker in the Methodist church, at Arthur and served as Sunday school superintendent and teacher and was president o the Women's Society of Christian Service for fourteen years. She was preceded in death by her husband and son Alva Volz. Survivors are one son Eugene P Volz of Estherville and six grandchildren, Mrs. Joe Brown of Burbank, Calif., Orris and Gale Volz of Arthur and Richard, Merle and Joan Volz of Estherville. Attending the service from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Volz and family of Estherville, Mr. and Mrs. Fred A Halboth of Omaha, Alfred Christiansen of Cherokee, and Mrs. Joe Brown of Burbank, Calif.
