Snyder, 66, of Culbertson died on Thursday of last week at Cambridge Memorial hospital, where he had been a patient since the previous Saturday when he sustained serious injuries in a corn picking accident. Funeral services were held last Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic church in McCook with Father McIntyre officiating at Requiem High Mass. Burial was made in the Arapahoe cemetery, with Father Nowicki in charge. Graveside military services were conducted by the VFW post of Culbertson and American Legion posts of Culbertson and Holbrook. Serving as pallbearers were Clarence Benjamin, Scott Mollring, V.R. Phillipson, Dr. Peter Phillipson, Willard Rippen, and Alfred Rippen. Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Phelps, Felix Meyerle, Calvin Saladen, Robert Ross, Earl Proud, George Sitzman Jr. and Edward Bauer. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Phillipson Mortuary of Holbrook. **************** Ross J. Snyder, son of James F. and Emma Jackson Snyder, was born in Frontier county near Holbrook, Nebraska on February 28, 1895. He departed this life on November 16, 1961 at Cambridge Memorial hospital in Cambridge, Nebraska. He spent all of his early life around Holbrook until 1916 when he entered Veterinary college in Kansas City, Missouri. As a member of the 355th infantry, Company C, he served with the American expeditionary forces in France from September 1917 to April 1919 and saw duty in the battles of Aisne, Champagne-Marne, Aisne-Marne, St. Mihul, Meuse-Argonne and the defensive sector. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart. On April 2, 1923 he was united in marriage with Hilda I. Warner of Holbrook. Mr. and Mrs. Snyder retired from the farm in 1948 and located in Culbertson. In 1955 Mr. Snyder was baptized and joined the Catholic church of Hill City, South Dakota. He was a member of the American Legion for 43 years and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for 15 years. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Vern. Survivors include his wife, Hilda of Culbertson; two daughters, Mrs. Kathryn L. Paris of Cambridge, Nebraska; and Mrs. Margueritte M. Phillips of Deadwood, South Dakota; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Cooper and Mrs. Nora Gockley, both of Holbrook, Nebraska; and two brothers, A.L.
