Pollock, 88, of Miller, S.D., died Monday, Feb. 3, 1997 at Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 8, 1997 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller with the Rev. Marlin R. Vetter officiating. Burial was in the Howell Cemetery north of Miller. Roy Pollock was born September 29, 1908 to Alexander and Jeannie (McVicker) Pollock in Hand County. At the age of two, he moved with his family to Ireland. At age eight, he and his family moved back to Hand County. He attended country schools in Hand County. On August 30, 1934, he married Olga Hargens at Rockham, S.D. They resided on a farm southeast of Orient until they moved to Miller in 1981. In 1996, he moved to Prairie Good Samaritan Center in Miller. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a long-time active member of the Republican Party, Farmers Union and other boards. He loved to hunt, play cards and also played in a band when he was younger. He was also quite a storyteller. He is survived by his wife, Olga of Miller; one son, Gordon (Marilyn) of Orient; ;two daughters, Arlys (Larry) Abernathy of Chamberlain, Vickie (Dairus) DeNeui of Houston, Texas, six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one nephew and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, six sisters, one grandson and one nephew. Pallbearers were Doug Pollock, Geoff Durst, Loren Abernathy, Craig Hargens, Monty Rogers and Matthew Rogers. Miller Press, Miller, Hand, South Dakota, February 12, 1997, c 5&6
