Means, 64, of Atlantic, who passed away Saturday evening at the Atlantic Memorial Hospital. Mr. Means was in the banking business in Villisca for thirty years before departing to Atlantic in 1951 to become a teller in the Atlantic State Bank. He passed away at 6:45 p.m. Saturday and had been in ill health for some time. The Rev. Mr. Means was born November 5, 1896 on a farm near Nodaway in Adams County, the son of James and Nancy Means. He grew to manhood in that vicinity and graduated from the Nodaway High School in 1915. He attended Simpson College for 1 year and the Capitol City Commercial College for 1 year. He was a World War 1 veteran, serving overseas in France for 1 year. He was employed in a Hardware store in Villisca and then entered the Banking business in Villisca in 1921 and then came to Atlantic State Bank for the past 10 years. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion, and member of the Blue Lodge of Masonry. He leaves his wife and 1 son James L. Means of San Francisco, 2 granddaughters, Nina and Lisa Means of San Francisco, 1 brother, Lloyd E. Means of Omaha. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Mrs. Bessie Everett.
