Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Verna Irene, daughter of Louis Enarson and Dora Marvick Enarson was born in Montgomery County on March 9, 1897; one of six children. She graduated from Villisca High School and attended Simpson College, and then taught school one year at Cherokee. On November 5, 1921, Verna was united in marriage to Roy B. Means, son of Samuel James Means and Nan Gertrude Watt Means and to this union one son, James Louis was born. She was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Jamie Louise, a brother Don, a sister, Eva. She is survived by her son James and wife Barbara of Fairfax, California; two granddaughters, Nina and Lisa and a grandson, Lane; two sisters, Sylvia Enarsson of Villisca and Florence Langbehn of Roswell, New Mexico; and one brother Ray Enarsson of Villisca. Roy and Verna made their home in Villisca during the early years of their marriage where he was employed at the bank. They moved to Atlantic in 1952 where he accepted employment at the bank. Verna returned to Villisca following Roy’s death in 1961 and made her home here until the time of her death on Sunday, March 7, at the Villisca Good Samaritan Center. Through the years, Verna was an active worker in the United Methodist Church, Womens Society, Clubs and social groups which she belonged. She enjoyed her many friends and her family and could always be counted on for kind, considerate help when needed. Villisca Review, Thursday, March 18, 1976, page 4
