Description	:	Roy Dean Rhoads, the son of Milton J. and Florence Rowley Rhoads, was born April 17, 1926 in Republic County, Kansas at his parents home and departed this life June 6, 1976 at Lincoln, Nebraska, after a short illness. He started to school in Jewell County, Kansas and in September, 1934 he moved to Rockwood, Pennsylvania with his parents. Read More	Roy Dean Rhoads, the son of Milton J. and Florence Rowley Rhoads, was born April 17, 1926 in Republic County, Kansas at his parents home and departed this life June 6, 1976 at Lincoln, Nebraska, after a short illness. He started to school in Jewell County, Kansas and in September, 1934 he moved to Rockwood, Pennsylvania with his parents. Later they moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he graduated from Southern High School in 1943. In 1945 he entered the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge from service, he made his home in the Superior, Nebraska area. He was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and later became a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Superior, where he was active in the work of the church. On February 8, 1948 he was united in marriage to Virginia L. Martin and to this union four children were born: Reginald Dean, Richard Dean, Randall Dean and Royalee Deanne. He is survived by his wife, three sons, one daughter, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Rhoads all of Superior, one sister, Mrs. Joyce Weir of Laramie, Wyoming and many other relatives and friends. Roy was a member of the American Legion, the Elks Lodge and the Eagles. He enjoyed his farming and derived great pleasure from it. In 1960 he was named by the local Jaycees as Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 9, 1976 at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel of Superior with Reverend Ross Karnes and Reverend Marion Knoell officiating.
