Description	:	Roy Edgar Lincoln was born on May 27th 1938 in Havre, Montana. His parents were Edgar A. and Marie (Packer) Lincoln and he was one of five children. He grew up in the Rudyard community, graduating from high school there in 1957. From 1958-61 he served in the U.S. Army in Germany, after which he returned to Montana. Read More	Roy Edgar Lincoln was born on May 27th 1938 in Havre, Montana. His parents were Edgar A. and Marie (Packer) Lincoln and he was one of five children. He grew up in the Rudyard community, graduating from high school there in 1957. From 1958-61 he served in the U.S. Army in Germany, after which he returned to Montana. On June 29th, 1962 he married Fern Kay Colbry in Joplin. They lived in Great Falls for a year, then in 1964 moved to Spokane where he worked for Pacific Northwestern Bell Telephone for the next 10 years. They transferred to Billings in 1974 where he was employed by Mountain Bell Telephone. In 1978 they moved to Burlington, Washington where he continued with the Continental Telephone Company as a central office equipment installer. It was just a year ago that Roy discovered that he had cancer, and he had been battling the disease since. These past months he has been cared for at home by his family and visiting nurses, and he died on the early morning of Saturday (July 19th) at the age of 42 years. Roy was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 89 of Everett, Washington. Roy enjoyed younger people, and had worked closely with youth through church activities. He had served as a Sunday school superintendent at the E.C.N.A. congregation in Billings. In 1975 he traveled to Haiti on a work crusade for missions. While living in Burlington, he attended the Alliance Church there. Roy was a spectator "sports nut"; that is, he enjoyed watching all kinds of sporting events. As far as sports participation was concerned, hunting was his greatest love. In his quieter moments, he enjoyed the relaxation behind a good book. Roy had accepted his imminent death and spoke frankly with his family about it to prepare them. He never lost faith and accepted God peacefully, and for this the family is happy. Survivors include his wife Fern; a son, Edgar, and a daughter, Lori (all of Burlington); his mother, Marie Lincoln of Rudyard; three brothers, Joseph of Rudyard, Lee (Karol)of Missoula and Arthur (Eva) of Colorado Springs; one sister, Mrs. Fred (Ruth) Newton of Diamond Bar, California; his parents-in[law, George and Edna Colbry of Chester; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Roy was preceded in death by his father, Edgar A. Lincoln. Funeral services were held Thursday (July 24th) at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rudyard. Pastor Kent Swift of the E.C.N.A. of Billings officiated. Special music by a vocal trio of Dave Robertson, Connie Blackbird and Faith Robertson included "It Will Be Worth It All", "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow", and "I'll Fly Away". Sharon Spicher accompanied the group on the organ. Ushers for the service were Wayne Hodges and Jerry Copenhaver. Pallbearers included Bill Riddle, Richard Jackson, Loren Brandt, Paul Fischer, David Robertson and Fred Henderson. Honorary bearers were Leo Fowler, Ken Byrd, and Bazle Fischer. Graveside Services were held at 3:30 p.m. at the Highland Cemetery in Havre. Local arrangements were by the Rockman Chapel in Chester. The family is establishing a memorial fund. In addition, there will be a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (August 2nd) at the Burlington Alliance Church.
