Description	:	Roy Chambers, a retired schoolteacher, died June 9, 1984 at his home near Eureka, KS. He was 89. Roy, was the son of Henry Harvey and Minnie (Friddle) Chambers, was born on December 17, 1894. He began his teaching career in the rural school system in Greenwood County and worked in education for 37 years, retiring in 1964 as Superintendent of the Wellsville School System. Upon his retirement, Chambers returned to the family homestead to raise purebred Hereford cattle. Read More	Roy Chambers, a retired schoolteacher, died June 9, 1984 at his home near Eureka, KS. He was 89. Roy, was the son of Henry Harvey and Minnie (Friddle) Chambers, was born on December 17, 1894. He began his teaching career in the rural school system in Greenwood County and worked in education for 37 years, retiring in 1964 as Superintendent of the Wellsville School System. He is survived by son, Wayne "Rocky" Chambers; two sisters, Mary Wettengel and Gladys Totland; granddaughters, Lisette, Kelley, and Kristin; 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marybelle, and his brothers, Arthur and Dick Chambers; and his two sisters, Carrie Nixon and Ruth Wall. The funeral service was held the morning of June 13, 1984 at Campbell Funeral Home. the Rev. Phyllis Garrett, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiated.
