Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Fathers Mark Maresh and John Kakkuzhiyil will officiate. Graveside Burial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Scotia. Roy Michael was born December 30, 1930, at Fullerton, Nebraska to Roy K. and Margaret N. (Noonan) Marshall. He was raised in Spalding where he received his education and graduated from Spalding High School. Mike entered the United States Army in February of 1952, and served until February of 1954. He was stationed in Germany in the European Theatre as a radio operator for the Regimental G2 Officer. On April 11, 1956, Mike was united in marriage to Dorothy Marie Koenig at St. Michael’s Church in Spalding. The couple lived in Omaha where Mike worked for Omaha Steel. They moved to Spalding and Mike worked at Buhrman Farm Equipment and S.E. Smith and Sons. In 1959, they settled in Scotia. Mike continued to work at S.E. Smith and Sons and then at Wegner and Van Slyke Implement. In 1988, he purchased the Implement Dealership and operated it until his retirement. Mike was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, American Legion, and VFW. He served on the Spalding and Scotia Fire Departments and was a Cub Scout Leader. He enjoyed the outdoors; camping, hunting, fishing, traveling; and attending sales with Stromp and J.O. Family and grandchildren were most important to Mike and he treasured all the time spent with them. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy of Scotia; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Dorrie of Des Moines, Iowa, Jim of Scotia and Jerry and Kris of North Loup; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Terry Killinger of Ord, Jolene and Martin Bruha of Burwell and Michaela and Greg Brown of Taylor; 12 grandchildren, Justine Marshall, Chad Marshall, Melissa Bruha, Melanie Satorie, Kelsey Bruha, Kaci Bruha, Shelby Zoltenko, Brady Brown, Macy Brown, Brian Waterman, JaNette McGhee and Amy Logsdon; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 expectant great-grandchild; a brother, Donald Marshall of Grand Island; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Margaret Smyth of Omaha and Darlene and Ray Hill of Scotia. He was preceded in death by his parents.
