Mr. and Mrs. Doane have the sincere sympathy of their friends here. *********************** The Osborne County Farmer, 24 Oct 1918, Thursday Roy Doane, son of County Clerk John Doane, died at Manhattan Tuesday morning about one o'clock. Roy was a student in the Army Training Corps at the Agricultural college and death was due to an attack of influenza. His father was with him when he passed away. The body was brought to Osborne yesterday morning. The funeral was held from the home this morning at 11 o'clock and interment made in the Delhi cemetery. The services were of a military character, in charge of the State Guards of Osborne and an escort of the Guards went to the cemetery. Roy was a bright and popular young man nineteen years of age. He graduated from the Osborne high school this spring and had been his father's assistant in the county clerk's office. He entered the military training branch at the college about three wekks (sic) ago. He was born in Delhi township and had lived in Osborne county all his life. His end has been a sad blow to the family and his large circle of friends over Osborne county.
