Description	:	Roy William Smith, 51, of Lexington, died Saturday, April 12, 1997, at his residence. Mr. Smith was born on July 7, 1945, in Lexington, and was the son of Virginia Wilborn Smith of Lexington and the late Roy Everett Smith. Roy was a member of Lexington Presbyterian Church, past member of the Masonic Lodge and worked as superintendent of Parks and Recreation and Cemetery Maintenance for the City of Lexington. Read More	Roy William Smith, 51, of Lexington, died Saturday, April 12, 1997, at his residence. Mr. Smith was born on July 7, 1945, in Lexington, and was the son of Virginia Wilborn Smith of Lexington and the late Roy Everett Smith. Roy was a member of Lexington Presbyterian Church, past member of the Masonic Lodge and worked as superintendent of Parks and Recreation and Cemetery Maintenance for the City of Lexington. He joined the Lexington Lifesaving and First Aid Crew in 1966, was Captain in 1968, and Training Officer from 1972 to 1974, while serving as the District I Vice President from 1973 to 1974. He was Captain from 1975 to 1979, and again from 1984 to the present. He had been awarded the Crew Member of the Year for six different years, was an EMT, EMT Shock Trauma, and a Vehicle Extrication Instructor. He also was affiliated with the SWAB Wagon Company of Elizabethville, Pa. In addition to his mother, Roy is survived by his wife, Brenda Craft Smith of Lexington; one son, Mark Lynwood Smith of Lexington; a twin sister, Patricia L. Blaesing of Vienna; two grandchildren, Mark Anthony Smith and Johnathon William Smith, and a nephew, Jason E. Blaesing. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 1997, from the Lexington Lifesaving and First Aid Crew Building, with the Rev. Barton L. Hellmuth and the Rev. L. Randolph Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, Lexington. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Lexington Lifesaving and First Aid Crew, P.O. Box 957, Lexington, Va. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Harrison Funeral Home in Lexington.
