Description	:	Ruby Belle (Christiancy) Nichols was born to Perry and Lockey (Wright) Christiancy on January 3, 1913, on a farm northwest of Geneva. She was the youngest of nine children--four brothers and four sisters. One sister died in infancy. Ruby passed away at her home in Fairmont Thursday, July 2, 1998, at the age of 85 years, six months. She attended school in district 81 until she graduated from the eighth grade. She was the youngest of nine children--four brothers and four sisters. One sister died in infancy. Ruby passed away at her home in Fairmont Thursday, July 2, 1998, at the age of 85 years, six months. She attended school in district 81 until she graduated from the eighth grade. Instead of starting high school in September, she chose to take care of her mother, who was bedridden with cancer and a broken hip. Her mother died November 20, 1926, so she started high school the second semester. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1931. After graduation, Ruby worked in Lincoln, where she stayed with her sister, Verla. On April 12, 1935, Ruby married Gordon Nichols, and to this union two sons, Stanley Eugene and John Thomas, were born. The family made their home in Fairmont. Gordon owned a gasoline transport, and Ruby enjoyed going on the trips with him. Later he bought the Phillips 66 station. There was a large building next to the station, so Ruby and Gordon started a skating rink, and the young people from the surrounding towns enjoyed skating. They also held dances and basketball games in the building. During World War II, Ruby had a taxi service in Fairmont. She drove the taxi and picked up people from the air base, as well as others who wanted transportation. Ruby and Gordon made many good friends with the personnel of the air base. Ruby enjoyed golfing with the ladies at the country club in Geneva. She was a member of the Star Rebekah Lodge No. 8 for many years. Her husband, Gordon, died December 30, 1974, and Ruby kept the business running for a while after his death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; parents, Perry and Lockey Christiancy; brothers, Harold and his wife, Florence, Walter and his wife, Lula, Lyle and his wife, Estelle, and Donald; Sisters, Hazel and husband Wesley Miller, and Verla and husband, Floyd Bouchard, and brother-in-law, Herbert Nichols. Ruby is survived by one sister, Dorothy Christiancy) Nichols of Geneva; two sons, Stanley Eugene and wife, Jacquelyn, of Fairmont, and John Thomas and wife, Virginia, of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren, Lisa Nichols-Davis of Fairmont, Peter Nichols of Torrance, California, Michael Nichols of Las Vegas, Nev. and Nicole Nichols of Las Vegas; one great-granddaughter, Erin Davis of Fairmont, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva at 10:30, Tuesday, July 7, 1998, with Pastor Dennis LInton-Hendrick officiating. Special music was provided by organist, Nancy Jo Galusha and vocal duets by Linda Campbell and Dee Swartz. Casket bearers were Melvin Ackerman, Kenneth Kness, Max Miller, James C. Nichols, Duaine Roper and James Snodgrass. Honorary casket bearers were Dwayne Judy and Kenneth Moore. Interment was at Fairmont Public Cemetery.
