Description	:	Ruby Phillips Metcalf, age 90, formerly of Barnardsville, N.C. went to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 5, 2003. Mrs. Metcalf was born January 15, 1913 in Flag Pond, Tennessee. She was formerly employed by Vanderbilt Shirt Factory where she worked for many years. Ruby was the daughter of the late Joe and Pearl Porsche Phillips and wife of the late Dempsey Metcalf, who died in 1975. Also preceding her in death was a son and daughter. She was survived by her daughter, Gladys Deweese and her husband, Bobby, of Barnardsville; sons, Richard Metcalf and his wife, Pat, of Weaverville,... She was survived by her daughter, Gladys Deweese and her husband, Bobby, of Barnardsville; sons, Richard Metcalf and his wife, Pat, of Weaverville, N.C. and Ronald Metcalf and his wife, Jerlene, of Barnardsville, N.C. seven grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and brothers, Dale, Robert and Gus Phillips of Flag Pond, Tenn. A special thank you to her family and friends at Magnolia Health Care Center. Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2003 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with the Rev. David Crowder officiating. Burial was in State Line Cemetery in Mars Hill, N.C.
