There were two teams in the field and Rush was in the lead. The rear team became frightened from some unknown cause and ran away, the mower striking Rush before he realized what happened and killed him instantly. Will Wullbrandt was there in a few minutes after the accident and he said Rush never moved. The driver of the rear team also said he lay where he fell without moving. The body was brought to his parents home in town and the funeral services were held today at 3:30 p.m. Rush C. Hoy will be greatly missed in this community where he is so well known. He was associated with his father, Col. R. J. Hoy, in the auctioneer business and impressed every one with whom he came in contact with his genial and good natured disposition and had a kind word for every body. The entire community mourns with his sorrowing relatives in their grief stricken hour. The Fullerton Post Thursday, June 18, 1918 ________________________________ OBITUARY: IN MEMORIAM Rush C. Hoy was born on the 8th day of October, 1889, on a farm seven miles north of Fullerton, and died near the same place the 11th day of June, 1918. At the time of his death he was twenty-eight years, eight months and three days old. Mr. Hoy had lived in this community all his life. To mourn his loss he leaves a father and a mother,four brothers and two sisters. His brothes and sisters are Frank D., Clarence W., Lester W., Dexter J., Mrs. Luella Barber, and Mrs. Florence Mayborn, all of Nance county. Rush was a good boy, respected and loved by those who knew him best. He died at his work, trying to raise what he could for benefit of his country, and at the same time trying to secure a home for himself. At the time of his decease he was in the bloom of youth and enjoying the best of health. Funeral services were conducted at the home of his parents, Col. and Mrs. R. J. Hoy by the Reverend G. W. Abbott.
