Born May 23, 1928, in Stanton, Iowa, he was the son of Russell Dayton and Augusta Eleanor Wilson Shay. On Oct. 11, 1952, he married Delores "Dee" Euans in Griswold, Iowa. Born May 23, 1928, in Stanton, Iowa, he was the son of Russell Dayton and Augusta Eleanor Wilson Shay. On Oct. 11, 1952, he married Delores "Dee" Euans in Griswold, Iowa. Mr. Shay was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a production engineer for the IAAP for 28 years and a service manager at Montgomery Wards for 10 years. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the VFW Post 10102 and Moose Lodge 579 of Burlington. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Cynthia J. Newberry and Shana L. Boulton, both of Burlington; one son, Steven R. Shay of Thermopolis, Wyo.; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Friends may call after 8 a.m. Friday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Shay will at 9 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. David Rogula officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Elliott Cemetery, Elliott, Iowa.
