Description	:	Russell I. Pratt, age 89, of Omaha, NE, formerly a long time resident of Elk Point, SD, went to live with his Lord July 29, 2009. Russell was born October 1, 1919 to Vern and Margaret Pratt in West Union, IA. He was the oldest of four children. He met the love of his life Aileen Ann Messerli while on a home visit from college. Read More	Russell I. Pratt, age 89, of Omaha, NE, formerly a long time resident of Elk Point, SD, went to live with his Lord July 29, 2009. Russell was born October 1, 1919 to Vern and Margaret Pratt in West Union, IA. He was the oldest of four children. He met the love of his life Aileen Ann Messerli while on a home visit from college. They were united in marriage on April 7, 1941 in Waterloo, IA. Russell proudly served his country in WW II with the Air Corps and returned home to help raise 13 children. In 1957 Russ and Aileen made Elk Point, SD their home. He was very active in The Elk Point United Parish, the American Legion, and VFW, where he held several local and state offices. Russell also enjoyed being a long time member of his bowling league in Vermillion, SD and he never lost his love and faith in the Iowa Hawkeye's. Russell is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Aileen, children; Janet Eastberg of Mpls MN, Nancy (Buck) Lanning of Elk Point, SD, Jeanne Segabarth of Mpls MN, Kathleen (Duane) Olson of Tucson, AZ, Russell Pratt II (Betty) of Omaha, NE, Peggy (Fred) Barg of Garreston SD, Martha Boomgarrden of Gretna, NE, Bill (Tami) Pratt of Omaha, NE, Theresa Rasmussen of Fort Collins, CO, James Pratt of Omaha, NE, Lynda (Darrin) Nepinsky of Omaha, NE, and Robert (Kathleen) Pratt of Springfield NE, 30 grandchildren , 35 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren with one more arriving soon. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Walter and Virgil and sister Helen, also his daughter Rebecca Lynn. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Sunday, August 2, 2009, with a prayer service at 7:00pm at Elk Point United Parish Church, Elk Point. A celebration of Russell's life will be held on Monday, August 3, 2009 at 10:00am at Elk Point United Parish with Rev. David Bambas officiating. Russell will be buried in St. Joseph Cemetery next to his daughter, Rebecca Lynn, with military honors.
