Engleka Ends Life With Revolver Bullet Well-Known Dentist Fires Bullet Into Brain at Sherrick Home at Pennsville HAD BEEN IN POOR HEALTH Despondent over continued ill health, Dr. Russell J. Engleka, 41 years old, well-known dentist of this city, shot and killed himself this afternoon about 1:30 at the home of Mrs. Mary Sherrick, his wife's grandmother, at Pennsville. He died a few minutes after firing a revolver shot into his right temple. Dr. Engleka had been in impaired health for six months or longer. He gave up his practice some time ago and had gone to Somerset county for rest and recuperation. He returned six weeks and had been staying among relatives. The doctor is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ora Enos Engleka, and a daughter; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Engleka, formerly of this city, now of Meyersdale, and a brother, Mark. He had been engaged in practice here for upwards of 10 years. He maintained offices in the Loucks Building West Crawford avenue. Dr. Engleka was a skilled musician, his specialty being the piano. He was accompanist for several years for the Connellsville Male Chorus. Dr. Engleka was a captain of the dental corps, Medical Detachment, 110 Infantry, Nation Guard of Pennsylvania. He became a member in 1920, joining as a private. In 1921 he became a lieutenant and later was promoted to the captaincy. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburg. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The body was removed to the funeral parlors of Charles C. Mitchell.
