Description	:	Russell Thomas Vanderflught, son of Roy and Gladys Marie (Allen) Vanderflught was born January 12, 1921 southwest of Kellerton, Ringgold County, Iowa and passed this life to be with the Lord on September 19, 2009 at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola at 88 years of age. Read More	Russell Thomas Vanderflught, son of Roy and Gladys Marie (Allen) Vanderflught was born January 12, 1921 southwest of Kellerton, Ringgold County, Iowa and passed this life to be with the Lord on September 19, 2009 at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola at 88 years of age. Russell and parents moved North of Kellerton. He attended rural schools and ran a service station in Kellerton. In 1943, he married Lena Mae Hohn, and to this union one son was born, Jerry. They made their home in Des Moines and Johnston, Iowa, where Russell picked corn and worked for Pioneer in the farm department and later worked for Coca Cola and Peanut Products. In 1951 they moved to Decatur County and farmed, ran a junkyard and later worked as a lineman and manager for Grand River Mutual Telephone Company. Later he became an electrician and repair man in the Grand River area for many years. His interests were attending and listening to the Jerry Vanderflught family country music band. Also attending all those many ball games his grand kids played, never missing a game. He loved being with all four of his great grand daughters as much as possible and he looked forward to the Vanderflught family reunion and camp outs held every year. Survivors include wife Lena of 65 years at their home in Grand River; son, Jerry Vanderflught and wife Dellane of Grand River; grandchildren, Jack Vanderflught (Elizabeth) of Osceola, Ricky Vanderflught and Lynsie Puck of Leon, Jeanie Bower (Jeff) of Grand River; great-grandchildren Elaina Vanderflught, Rachel Vanderflught, Alicia Vanderflught, and Joclyn Bower; brother, Leroy (Phyllis) Vanderflught of St. Charles, sisters, Alice (Raymond) Rush of St. Charles, Juanita Mills of Van Wert; sister in law, Hazel Vanderflught of Grand River , Iowa; many nieces, nephews and friends.
