Description	:	Ruth Ann Pool was born in Washington County, Ohio Dec. 10, 1848, and moved with her parents to Van Buren County Iowa in the year of 1851, where she has lived continuously. She died Feb. 2, 1936 at three thirty p.m., at the home of her daughter-in-law, Lillie Salter aged 87 years, 1 month and 22 days. At the age of 18 she was married Feb. 7, 1866 to Asa Salter, and to this union were born 4 children, Benjamin Salter, Sarah E. Salter, John Calvin Salter and Annie Salter, who have all preceded her in death as did their... Read More	Ruth Ann Pool was born in Washington County, Ohio Dec. 10, 1848, and moved with her parents to Van Buren County Iowa in the year of 1851, where she has lived continuously. She died Feb. 2, 1936 at three thirty p.m., at the home of her daughter-in-law, Lillie Salter aged 87 years, 1 month and 22 days. At the age of 18 she was married Feb. 7, 1866 to Asa Salter, and to this union were born 4 children, Benjamin Salter, Sarah E. Salter, John Calvin Salter and Annie Salter, who have all preceded her in death as did their father. She united in marriage the second time, Nov. 3, 1897 to J.S. James, who died Nov. 27, 1925. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and devoted to her home and family and loved by all who knew her. She united with the M.E. church at Leando Nov. 15, 1914 and remained faithful until her death. Such is life, we are here awhile until the Master calls us home, and we know that it will be a happy reunion when mother Ruth joins her loved ones over there. She leaves to mourn her passing one brother, Dick Pool, of Ottumwa; one half-sister, Alice Brown, of Peoria, Ill.; one step-son, Will James, of Corydon, Iowa; three step-daughters, Mrs. Ida Winslow, of Burlington; Mrs. Kibby Hewitt, of Douds; Mrs. Ida Rector of Valley Junction, Iowa; two daughter-in-laws, Mrs. Lillian Salter, and Mrs. Ella Salter, of Douds; one son-in-law, Grant Weir, of Ottumwa, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Leando church Wednesday, at 1:30 p.m. in charge of Rev. Earl Chade, of Douds. Interment was in the Leando cemetery. Source: Van Buren Co.
