Ruth Anna Evelyn Lundberg was born on a farm south of Dayton, just inside the Boone County line on February 16, 1915, to Swan Alfred Lundberg and Sigrid Olson Lundberg. The family moved to the Lanyon area where she attended school through the third grade. Then they moved to a farm at what was then called South Dayton where she was raised. Her education was completed at Dayton Community School. On April 25, 1936, Ruth was united in marriage to Wilmer Gustaf Forsberg at Mallard, IA; and soon thereafter they made their home in Dayton. The early years of their marriage were spent moving around with Wilmer's work to various towns including Sioux Falls, S.D.; Nashua, IA; and St. Joseph, MO., but always returning to Dayton. The year 1945, brought several changes for them. Their only child, Janice Elaine was born; and they purchased their first home in Dayton. Also that same year Wilmer formed his business, Forsberg Farm Drainage, for which Ruth did the bookkeeping for many years. Ruth was a life long member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 13, 1930. After love and concern for her family, her passions were her flower gardens, sewing and music, especially playing the organ. In 2005, Ruth moved to Courtyard Terrace assisted living in Boone; and in February of 2010, she moved to Stratford Nursing and Rehab. Center in Stratford. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1974, her brother, Roy Lundberg and sister, Florence Olson. Survivors include daughter, Janice Gordon and husband Dean; of Dayton, IA, two granddaughters: Melissa Bauer of Ogden, IA. And Michelle Gordon of Ames, IA; three great-grandsons: Tyler Riddle, Iowa City, IA; Travis Riddle, Ogden, IA; Landon Bauer, Ogden, IA, a great-granddaughter Skyler Bauer, Ogden, IA, and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be left to Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton.
