Description	:	Mrs.Puth Carstens; 76, formerly of Cherokee, died Monday Feb. 15, 1993 in the St. Lukes's Hospital,Phoenix, Ariz, following a lengthy illness. Memorial services were held Monday, Feb. 22 at Greenwood Funeral Home with Rev. John Scherb officiating. Burial will be at Oak. Hill Cemetery in Cherokee at a later date. She was born Sept 15,1916 in Cedar Rapids to J.D. and Lucinda (Rice) Burrell. She attended schools in Cedar Rapids, and following graduation from high school, attended business college in Iowa City for two years. He preceded her in death July 16, 1980. They raised turkeys on Carsten's Turkey Farm for many years. Ruth also worked as a secretary for an insurance office in Quimby. She was a longtime member of the American Red Cross. She moved to Phoenix from Cherokee in 1982. Ruth had worked as a volunteer for the Heard Museum and St. Luke's Hospital in Phoenix. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Zimbro of Scottsdale, Ariz., one grandson, Billy Zimbro of Scottsdale.Ariz., two nieces, Elizabeth Miller Klausner and her husband, Ed, of Iowa City; Marian Cook and her husband, Roy. of Gramby, Conn, and one nephew , Paul Miller of Washington, D.C.
