Ruth was born to Bessie and Carroll Deering on April 21, 1924, in Hartland, Maine. She grew up in Harmony and Dexter and graduated from Harmony High School in 1943. Ruth was born to Bessie and Carroll Deering on April 21, 1924, in Hartland, Maine. She grew up in Harmony and Dexter and graduated from Harmony High School in 1943. In 1948, she married Stephen Post and they had 3 children. They lived in Harmony until 1970 when they bought the Post General Store in Cambridge. They sold the store in May 2000 and continued to reside in Cambridge until 2016. Ruth moved to Parkman with her son and then moved to Dexter in 2020 with her daughter until her passing. She enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the Saturday FaceTime with her Virginia great-grandchildren. She liked her hair day on Thursdays with her niece Lettie Nickerson and then stopping in to see her nephew Bruce and his wife Connie. Her calls from Glenda Sawyer, Larry Rowell and Ellen Dore were very special, along with notes from the people she held dear. She leaves behind a daughter, Narda and her husband John Sullivan of Dexter; a son, Gerard Post and his wife Brenda of Parkman; grandchildren: Corey and his wife Gina of Detroit, Amanda Post of Windham, Nicholas Post of Hampden, and Derick Davis and his wife Whitney Johnson of Charlottesville VA; great-grandchildren: Calista Post, Wilson Post, Arlo Johnson-Davis, and Cecil Johnson-Davis; and her special nieces and nephews, near and far. She was preceded by her parents, Bessie and Carroll Deering; husband, Stephen Post; a son, Kim Post; brothers: Donald Deering, Francis Deering, and Bernard Deering; sisters: Carolyn Reed, Dorothy Rowell, Barbara Hume and Pauline Sawyer; and a dear friend, Dorothy Lombard. The family wants to thank Beacon Hospice for their kindness and care, especially Susan, Gail, Erica, and Chaplain Gail. We couldn't have done it without your guidance and help. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the charity of your choice in Ruth's memory. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield, where she will be laid to rest next to her son and husband. A gathering will follow at Corey and Gina's Home, 162 River Road in Detroit. All are welcome.
