Description	:	JOLIET-Ruth E. Baty, age 80, went to be with her Lord Jesus, Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, after a battle with cancer. Ruth was the fourth of seven children born to Lester and Ruth Fletcher on July 13, 1929, in a log cabin in Crosby township Minn. She attended Miltonvale Wesleyan Methodist Academy and College in Miltonvale, Kan. She graduated as valedictorian with a teaching degree in 1949. Ruth was the fourth of seven children born to Lester and Ruth Fletcher on July 13, 1929, in a log cabin in Crosby township Minn. She attended Miltonvale Wesleyan Methodist Academy and College in Miltonvale, Kan. She graduated as valedictorian with a teaching degree in 1949. After teaching one year in a country school, she married Burl E. Baty in Albert Lea, Minn. in 1950. They then moved back to Miltonvale for Burl to complete his pastoral studies. Ruth served beside her husband for 46 years in churches in Nebraska, Montana, South Dakota and Wyoming. She held a life-long love of learning, had a heart for ministering to children and had a passion for missions. After retirement in 1997, they moved back to Joliet where they continued to serve in many ways for the church and the community, and whenever possible enjoyed visiting family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Ruth Fletcher and infant grandson, Bryan Frank. She is mourned by her husband, Burl Baty, Joliet; daughter, Deborah Walker (Kelly), Havre; Michael Baty (Sue), Wasilla, Ark., Phillip Baty, Frederick, Okla., and Priscilla Frank (Robert), Wahpeton, N.D.; two brothers; four sisters; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Services will be held Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m., at the Joliet Wesleyan Church, Carbon and 2nd, Joliet. Internment will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Joliet Cemetery. Memorials are suggested in Ruth's name for bibles to Gideon's International or World Hope International, P. O. Box 96338, Washington, DC 20090-6338. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel was in charge of arrangements.
