She was a kind, caring wife, mother and grandmother. She had a quiet, serious personality. She enjoyed quilting, reading and attending church. Born May 16, 1911, in West Head, she was a daughter of the late Enos Locke and Dorcas Mertilla (Newell) Smith. She was the youngest of a family of eight and was the last surviving child. She was a kind, caring wife, mother and grandmother. She had a quiet, serious personality. She enjoyed quilting, reading and attending church. She was an adherent of West Head Wesleyan Church and also the United Baptist Stone Church. Although she did not join either church, she was a faithful attendant and enjoyed her Christian faith. She leaves to mourn her passing, daughters, Helen L. (Belmont) Nickerson, Lorna I. (Wordlow) Goreham; grandchildren, Gerald M. Nickerson, Barrington; Brian (Marsha) Nickerson, Clark's Harbour; Karlyn (Roger) Atwood, Beaver Dam; Charles W. Goreham, Dartmouth; Jennifer L. (Kenneth) Townsend, North East Point; eight great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Charles M. Blades; infant son, Charles Alfred; sisters, Gladys, Leah, Ethel, Edith; brothers, Nathan, Benjamin, Alfred. Visiting will be 7-9 p.m. today in H. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Barrington. Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday in West Head Wesleyan Church, Rev. Perry Ingersol, Rev. Grant Milroy and Rev. Steven Hopper officiating. Burial will be in West Head Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to any church or charity of your choise.
