Description	:	Ruth Joy was born to Stephen Curtis Stephenson and Anna Clara Hetrick Stephenson on August 13, 1899, at Falls City, and passed away on September 7, 1983, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 84 years and 24 days. Read More	Ruth Joy was born to Stephen Curtis Stephenson and Anna Clara Hetrick Stephenson on August 13, 1899, at Falls City, and passed away on September 7, 1983, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 84 years and 24 days. She was one of three children in the family. In 1914 her parents moved to a farm near Fairmont where Ruth attended school. She was married to Raymond Joy on September 23, 1921, at York. They lived on a farm northwest of Fairmont. On March 31, 1926, a son, Lyle Delbert Joy was born to them. Lyle passed away at the age of four on September 27, 1929. They later moved to town in Fairmont, where Ruth was a telephone operator until the office in Fairmont closed. For several years, Ruth and Raymond ran the motel for Wayne Harrington. Ruth was a member of Rebecca Lodge for 60 years and the Golden Rod Kensington. In 1949, they moved to Loveland Col., and lived there until 1971. Ruth worked in the Trailways Bus Depot while there. In 1971, they moved back to Nebraska to the Leisure Home in York, where they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 23, 1971. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Lyle; a sister, Elizabeth; a brother, Sam; and by her husband, Raymond, in August of 1979. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Harriet Stephenson of Harbor City, Cal., and Letha Porter of Lincoln; and by three nieces and three nephews. Graveside services were conducted on Friday, September 9, from the Fairmont Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Moore of the Fairmont Community Church officiating. Interment was on the family lot, next to her husband, Raymond. The Nebraska Signal September 15th, 1983. Daughter of Stephen Curtis and Anna Clara (Hetrick) Stephenson.
