Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. Rev. Lindsay Watkins will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogedn. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 6-8 pm at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Ruth Marilyn Rogers was born on August 1, 1934, on a farm east of Luther, near the Garden Prairie Church, the daughter of David and Edna Faye)VanPelt)Rogers. She was baptized on September 9, 1953, and confirmed on April 3, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. Ruth graduated with the Boone High School class of 1952. On October 21, 1955, Ruth was united in marriage to Marvin Erwin Stumpenhorst at Mr. Olive Lutheran Church in Des Moines. Ruth worked as a telephone operator in Boone and Ames, and later as a storekeeper for AT&T in Ames and Des Moines until retiring. Ruth loved the Lord as her personal Savior and belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. She also supported various Christian Radio and TV Ministries. She enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, quilting, cooking, crafting, and flowers. Ruth and Marvin enjoyed traveling to Canada in the summer adn Texas in the winter. Most of all she loved her grandchildren. Surivors include her husband, Marvin Stumpenhorst of Ogden, Iowa; four children, Mark(Kendra)Stumpenhorst of Stratford, Iowa, JoEllen(Kelly)Nissen of Pilot Mound, Iowa, Carma Jean(Larry)Ahrens of Staplehurst, Nebraska, and John(Colleen)Stumpenhorst of Yukon, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Amanda(Eli)Frakes, Hans Stumpenhorst, Rob(Monica)Carpenter, Dan(Heather)Carpenter, Eric Ahrens, and Kathryn Stumpenhorst; three great-grandchildren, Quinton Frakes, Jeremiah and Samuel Carpenter; two sisters, Mary Lois Corson, and Faye(Marvin)Grems all of Boone, Iowa; one brother, Morris(Barbara)Rogers of Riverside, California; sisters-in-law, Marion Rogers of Boone, Iowa, and Eldora(John)Heineman of Ogden, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Charles(Gwynn)Stumpenhorst of Ogallala, Nebraska, and Dean Youngren of Ogden, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wayne and Don Rogers; and two sister-in-laws, Sandy Rogers and Vera Youngren.
