Found in The State (Columbia, SC) 27 January 1925: Winnsboro, Jan. 26-A tragic accident occurred near here yesterday morning when Grady Timms, aged 15, accidently shot and instantly killed his brother, Sabie Timms, aged 13, near their home in the Hickory Ridge section of Fairfield county. The boys had been out hunting Saturday with their cousins, spending the night at the home of their aunt. Sunday morning when they left for their home their aunt made them unload the gun before starting , but on the way home one of the boys put one cartridge in the double barrelled shotgun without his brother knowing it. When Sabie stopped at the spring to get some water he laid the gun across his brother's knee. Grady, thinking it was unloaded, pulled the trigger, the shot entered Sabie's brain and instantly killed him. Coroner John Gibson deeming an inquest unnecessary, none was held. The funeral services were held at the Fairfield Baptist church this afternoon at 4 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. J. P. Isenhower. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved parents, and to the unfortunate lad who is almost prostrated at the accident. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Timms, and attended school at Mt. Zion Institute, where he was a general favorite.
