Lindgren passed away at her home in Swaburg at 5:17 o'clock Monday morning, October 2, 1939, following a lingering illness of almost a years's duration. She had been bedfast during the past three weeks. As Sadie Bowman, only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Bowman, prominent pioneer family of this vicinity, the deceased was born on the homestead of her parents, a mile south of Uehling on April 1, 1883. At the time of her passing she had attained the age of 56 years, 6 months and one day. She received her education in the district school of her home vicinity, and on December 4th, 1901, was united in marriage to Charles W. Lindgren, of Swaburg. They established their first home just north of the home of his parents, five years later moving to his parental home, which for the past 33 years has continued to be the family home. Having lived all her life in this vicinity, Mrs. Lindgren made many lasting friendships. The journey of her life is a path marked with untold deeds of kindness and good cheer, for hers was a kindly nature, and she was always ready and willing to extend a helping hand to neighbors and friends alike. For many years she had been a faithful member of the Elim Lutheran Ladies Aid society and was an active worker in that organization until her hearing became impaired and illness came upon her. Besides the husband, there remain to mourn her departure, two sons, Harvey, of near Lyons, and Julian, of Swaburg, and four daughters, Mrs. Silas Anderson of Rosalie, Mrs. Martin Liefert of Swaburg, Mrs. Emil Popken of near Scribner and Mrs. Ernest Forsberg of Uehling. One son, Howard, passed away at the age of 12 years in 1924. She is also survived by six grandchildren and by three brothers Andrew Bowman of Uehling, Tura Bowman of Alliance and Arthur Bowman of near Uehling. A brother, Albert Bowman, also preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the home and the Elim Lutheran church, with Wollmer & Warne of Hooper directing, and Rev. Rudolph H. Anderson as the officiating clergyman. Interment was made in the family lot in the Elim cemetery.
