Description	:	Samuel Alonzo Jenkins, son of Jacob Jenkins and Susanna R. McLaughlin, was born February 12, 1872 in Marshall County, Illinois and died July 18, 1953 at the home of his son, Kenneth Jenkins 3 1/2 miles northwest of Nodaway, Iowa at the age of 81 years, 5 months, and 6 days. McLaughlin, was born February 12, 1872 in Marshall County, Illinois and died July 18, 1953 at the home of his son, Kenneth Jenkins 3 1/2 miles northwest of Nodaway, Iowa at the age of 81 years, 5 months, and 6 days. When 7 years of age, he with his parents moved to Montgomery County, Iowa where he grew to manhood. His entire life was spent in Montgomery and Adams Counties. In 1896, he was united in marriage to May Goodwin, who preceded him in death in 1898. Then on March 10, 1908 he was united in marriage to Birdie E. Chatterton of Villisca, to this union two sons were born, Sterling A., who preceded him in death June 22, 1938, and Kenneth A. who survives him and with whom he made his home of late ears. HIs wife died August 14, 1937. Mr. Jenkins is survived by his son Kenneth, four grandchildren, Sam, Louise, Susan, and Richard, a brother, Dr. H. E. Jenkins of Forest Park, Illinois, also an adopted sister, Alta Atwood of Jerome, Idaho, and two daughters-in-law, Irma and Izola Jenkins. Five brothers, including a twin brother, Moses, on sister, also one niece, Ruth Jenkins, who was raised in his home, preceded him in death. Early in life he united in Villisca Methodist Church later transferring his membership to the Iveyville Methodist Church and then to the Nodaway Methodist Church of which he was a member at the time of his death. Funeral services were held July 20, 1953 at 2 p.m. at the Nodaway Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Wilkings officiating. Music was by Mrs. Harold Everett and Mrs. J. R. Dismukes, with Mrs. Cecil Rhamy as pianist. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Pall bearers were George Findley, Art Lilly, Ivan Hardisty, Doyle Findley, Ralph Hardisty, and Paul Hardisty.
